Mens Over 30

What Direction Are We Going with the Cup Competitions?

The USASA National Board of Directors has made the decision to discontinue the Gerhard Mengel Over-30 Cup. The US Over-30 Cup was first played in 1984 with the winner awarded the Gerhard Mengel Cup. While there are a number of teams that take part in Regions I and II, the same cannot be said for the other two regions. It is discontinued because of the lack of interest in those regions.
Region I is committed to continuing this long standing tradition and will administer  the Gerhard Mengel Over-30 Cup. Region II has also committed to do the same and the winners of the two regions will meet for the titles.

Qualifying Games for Region I Tournament:
All interested teams within a division must compete to determine a winner at the State level. Teams will organize games within the division to determine a winner. Winners will represent the State at the Region I tournament.

Deadline for Qualifying Games:
State games must be completed by Mid-March 2019
Winners of divisions will advance to the Region I tournament.

All teams are required to submit a player pool and an International Clearance Form (as needed) and a P12 form (as needed) as stated by USSF policy.

Current USSF policy 601-6 Section 2 reads as follows:

· "For a player who comes to the United States on or after the player is 12 years of age, the player must request and receive an International Clearance form from the USSF." International clearances are required for State, Regional and National rounds of play. Please begin those now as they can take up to 31 days to process and players cannot play without them.

There will be no exceptions as all forms need to be processed by USSF prior to the first match. Failure to send information on time will jeopardize your team's participation.

It is in the best interest of your team to submit ALL potential players on their Player Pool, up to 35, for review by USSF. Your team might require 2 forms to complete info as each form has 22 spaces.

For additional information please review the: ITC and P12 Policies and Information Page

Additional Notes

  • All team managers, coaches, and players are responsible for knowing the rules and regulations governing the National Cups competitions, especially with regards to deadlines and suspension.
  • Teams will split the cost of fields and refs.
  • In order for a player to be considered "registered" on a team and therefore eligible to play in a match, the player data and payment must both have been received by the MDCVSA ten (10) days prior to the match.
